Artist's Statement
My work's purpose is to create a visual aesthetic experience of what I have seen and felt about a moment in the natural setting of a subject that attracts me.
I paint with the best craftsmanship to create a painting that shows more than just what meets the eye. I like all manner of subjects; a corner of my house, a garden, people, a street, memories from trips.
I'm most comfortable with detailed realism but my challenge and interest is to show on canvas what I saw in my mind.
I was born in Korea, and came to America in 1977. I studied at the San Francisco Academy of Art College 1981-87 (illustration and fine art) and at U.C. Berkeley Extension 1992-1995 (painting courses).
My work is now a part of numerous private collections.
