Types of Motorbikes

The first motorbikes were invented over a century ago. Over the years, the motorcycle industry has put in serious efforts to develop new types of motorbikes to cater to diverse user needs. There are dozens of different motorbike models in productions, with vast vintage models still on the roads.

Cruising Bikes

Cruisers are archetypical bikes. These motorbikes feature a distinct low-slung design with an ergonomic seat that invites the rider to lean back. It is also worth noting that the handlebars are a little taller than the seat, which leaves the rider in the perfect position to sit back and enjoy their ride. Their comfortable design, stability, and easy handling make them ideal for everyday commuting, touring, and anything racing.

Touring Bikes

Touring bikes are characteristically bulky. Their heavy design makes them ideal for extended periods of riding. These bikes’ standout features make them perfect for long tours, including a rider-friendly ergonomic design, large wind screens, and built-in hard cases for storage purposes. However, these bikes are not built for racing, even though they have powerful engines.

Sport Bikes

Sport bikes are designed to offer high speeds and precise handling. They have superior aerodynamic properties, which come in handy in reducing drag. Also, these bikes have a higher seat and lower handlebars that allow the rider to maintain a hunched-over position that reduces drag. It is also worth noting that sports bikes sacrifice some comfort for enhanced performance.

Cafe Racer Bikes

The cafe ricer is designed to cater to the needs of riders who fancy speed and classic styling. Like sports bikes, cafe racers offer superior aerodynamic features and are not the most comfortable of bikes. These bikes make excellent town bikes, thanks to their small size and precise handling. If you want to use a cafe racer bike for a tour, they might not give you the comfort you need for longer distances.

Dirt Bikes

Dirt bikes are designed for outdoor and off-road adventures. Dirt bikes have knobby tires and high suspension systems to handle terrains that other bikes cannot handle.
